Homes with Style Inc.
This past year has been wonderful. I am passionate about home staging and I love seeing the amazing results and transformations in the client’s homes.
I have been a member of the RESA Kitchener-Waterloo Chapter since 2012 and always look forward to connecting with members at our monthly meetings. I have come to appreciate each member for their friendship and what they contribute to the group.
I really believe in home staging and how much it benefits the agent and homeowner. I go out of my way to make new clients feel comfortable as they are opening up their homes and trusting me. I don’t want them to feel intimidated or uncomfortable with the condition of their home. We are there for them all the way and above all, I want them to feel safe.
Homes with Style has partnered with realtors and homeowners to provide information on why a home staging consultation is necessary and to help them understand the benefits of home staging. We work as a team.
I find some agents are not comfortable explaining to their clients what exactly is involved in a home staging consultation as well as the benefits home staging provides. I help to educate the agents so that they are better equipped to clarify and relay this information to the homeowners. This allows homeowners to have a better comprehension of what a consultation and home staging entails.
Showing our clients before and after pictures along with our own personal statistics helps establish an understanding of what we are trying to convey. When homeowners follow our recommendations we return to the home before the photographer shows up, to help and rearrange any last minute changes. We also work with the photographer to make sure every room captures the best possible marketing/listing photos This was a service that agents were not aware of and are very happy to have this integrated as part of the package which is included with the staging consultation. We have seen this as a very valuable asset with greatest return on investment of our time and the homeowner’s satisfaction.
For the past two years I have been VIP of Membership, in this important role I see new home stagers join the K-W RESA Chapter and if they have any concerns or questions I make myself available to help clarify any questions they may have. I encourage, educate them and help their businesses blossom.
I have given out referrals and had new stagers assist me on consults, as well as the planning process, packing, staging and de-staging.
I have had several clients in very difficult situations this past year whom I was happy to help in preparing their home for the real estate market. We had a client who unfortunately lost their husband; leaving a family of three young children (including 2 year old twins, with disabilities and health issues.) We staged their property at a deeply discounted rate. It was very fulfilling to help this family during this traumatic and difficult time.
This house could have sat for months with no offers (due to location of incident) but sold in a matter of weeks for listing price. This was a great relief to the seller and family.
I also had the privilege to assist another homeowner who recently had knee surgery and was unable to walk. I spent time helping her accessorize and rearranged her furniture. The appreciation and gratitude received was most rewarding.
I attended the RESACON Canada convention this year and found it extremely motivating and educational. I walked away with wonderful and important information that I have incorporated into my Home Staging business.
When asked about my profession from interested parties, I like to take the time to explain the business. I also inform them of the great support and educational systems we have in the industry such as RESA, CSP and also (SLS Academy – Shauna Simon.)
I am grateful to be involved in this industry and to RESA National for being a conduit for me to meet diverse stagers both in person and on social media platforms. We are one big team!
Thank you for your time and I appreciate your consideration,
